Woods is an old son of Western Jets who began his football career here 15 years ago. Woods began playing for the Jets from 2005-2008. He juggled his responsibilities in 2007 where he was captain of the Christian Brothers College FC. After his journey in the under 18’s competition ended, he moved on to play in the WRFL (Western Region Football League) for the Spotswood FC. In Woods’ first year Spotswood won the premiership in the 2009 season. He continued to play for Spotswood for seven more years but also sought opportunities interstate. In the AFL London season of 2013/2014, Woods played for the West London FC. After one season of AFL London, he returned back to Australia. Woods finished his playing career in 2016 for Spotswood and moved onto a different career path.
Woods had previously coached during his playing days and saw a future in football beyond the field. He was a former PE teacher and VET AFL Assistant Coach for Essendon Keilor as well as a Personal Trainer for New Level Health Management in Yarraville. In 2017 Woods was selected as the Senior Assistant Coach of the Caroline Catholic College in Braybrook. Woods also served as the Head of Health & Physical education at this time. Now Woods has returned home to where it all started. He will serve as a Development Coach this year for the Western Jets.
