OAKLEIGH CHARGERS - 2.1.13
EASTERN RANGES - 6.5.41
The Eastern Ranges girls made it three wins from three matches on Sunday with a 28-point victory over the Oakleigh Chargers.
A three-goal opening quarter while also keeping the Chargers to no score set up the early foundations for the victory, demonstrating the team’s ability up forward and down back.
Throughout the day, the defensive unit worked excellently as a team to restrict the opposition to just a single behind for the first three quarters.
The second quarter saw Eastern fail to score, however two goals in the third quarter and one in the last kept the margin comfortable enough with time ticking away.
In attack, Laura McClelland continued her rich vein of goalkicking form, kicking four majors. She now finds herself atop the league goalkicking table with a total of eight for the season.
Also contributing to the scoreboard with single goals were Jessica Provan and co-captain Emerson Woods.
The win sees Eastern in second place on the ladder, in between fellow undefeated teams Northern Knights (1st) and Geelong Falcons (3rd).
Best players included Charlotte Wilson, Georgia Macpherson, Ashleigh Allsopp, Olivia Meagher, Emerson Woods, and Laura McClelland.
Goalkickers on the day were:
L McClelland 4
J Provan
E Woods
The next game for the squad is a long journey to Epsom Huntly Reserve, Bendigo to take on the ninth-placed Pioneers on Easter Tuesday at 1:00PM.
