The Geelong Falcons won an exciting Grand Final against Latrobe to win the 2007 V/Line Cup, the game played in excellent conditions at TEAC Oval, Port Melbourne on Wednesday 4th April.
Following good wins against Bendigo and Ballarat the previous 2 days, the Falcons won the final by 20 points with an excellent last quarter effort in a high standard game. Led by best-afield Brent Macleod, the boys lifted after leading narrowly at 3/4 time and kicking against a slight breeze. Macleod was rewarded for his fine play by taking out the Richie Almond Medal as Best & Fairest over the 3 games.
It is the 3rd occasion in 5 years that Geelong has won the Division 1 title, earning them the mantle of State Champions.
The Geelong region also fielded a team in Division 3 and after an exciting draw on day 1, this very promising group, with 12 players eligible to play again next year, won their final 2 games to finish equal second on points in their 6-team competition. Lachlan Muir (Geelong Amateurs) was adjudged Best & Fairest over the 3 day carnival, receiving the Bill Dalziel Medal for his efforts.
